Price and Packages

Doteasy offers three shared hosting packages, called Basic, Unlimited and Unlimited SSD 100. These plans are currently rated at $2.95/mo, $3.98/mo and $4.95/mo instead of regular $2.95/mo, $8.95/mo and $12.95/mo. But after 1-year term, the plans renew at original prices. The auto-backup service is charged with $1.5/mo while many world-leading web hosts offer free site backup, such as WebHostingHub.

If you cancel your account within 30 days of sign up, you can get all your money back. Still, if you cancel your account within the first 45 days of hosting service renewal and 14 days of a plan change, you can get your money back, but at the same time, you have to pay $15 Refund Processing Fee. Domain purchases are non-refundable.

Features

We choose the first two plans of Doteasy and the primary plan of WebHostingHub to make the side-by-side feature analysis. Details are presented below.

From above, Doteasy does not offer many features, especially the Basic plan. As you can see, this plan doesn’t include free domain and any free advertising credits while the Spark plan of WebHostingHub does the opposite things. For the basic features, Doteasy only provides 100 MB disk space, 1 GB monthly data transfer, 10 email accounts, 10 FTP accounts and 10 sub-domains, which are very limited.

With regard to the development features, the important programming languages: Perl, Ruby, CGI, Python, and PHP are absent from the Basic plan. Also, the popular CMS, such as WordPress, Joomla and Drupal do not gain any support.

Performance

According to the existing statistics, Doteasy does not make any promise for their uptime, nor any compensation for the downtimes. This company uses the UPS technology and onsite diesel generator to make sure the stability of its server performance. But our monitoring indicates that they fail to offer a great uptime record.

Doteasy has only one data center in Vancouver, far away from America, which might be one of the reasons that this web host can not make any commitment for their speed. They claim that they utilize the Cisco technology and SSD to offer fast speed, but the fact is that the solid-state drive is only available for the last plan. As an experienced webmaster, you might want to take other alternatives into consideration who put SSD to all their shared plans, such as InMotion Hosting.

Customer Service

Email, phone call and live chat are available for the customers of Doteasy to get help. This company declares that they employ a large number of well-trained and knowledgeable technicians who have rich experience in dealing with all kinds of hosting problems, so you do not need to worry about their customer service. Some tutorials have been created to help users set up and manage their websites.

It seems that Doteasy does a good job for the aspect of technical support, but the truth is the opposite. The most problems and complaints this company receives are about the un-authorized billing for the canceled accounts and the low efficiency of solving problems.

Conclusion

Based on the analysis before, Doteasy is not a good choice for shared hosting for its limited features, slow speed and nonprofessional technical support. Instead, we have the following recommendations for you. All of them are low-cost, rich-featured, high-performance and helpful.
