How to Bulk Edit WordPress – Posts, Pages, Comments, Tags and More

WordPress itself offers the bulk editing feature of your web contents. In this case, you firstly need to enter the Posts and Page screen. By default, WordPress will showcase 20 items for each page using the built-in pagination feature. However, for the easier editing in a bulk manner, you need to view more items at once. Thus, you can edit a large quantity of items in a single page.

Here, you need to leverage the Screen Options button that is at the top right location of your current screen. From the Pagination part, you should enter the number of 999 for the item number per page, which is the maximum value. Do not forget to hit the Apply button.

Now, to bulk edit these items, you should select all of them by ticking the checkbox before the Title option. And then, you need to click the Edit button from the dropdown list of the Bulk Actions box. After clicking the Apply button, you can get the following screenshot.

This time, you can do some bulk editing, such as changing the authors, turning off the comments, adding some categories or tags, changing the post format or status, enabling the pingbacks and allowing the sticky post feature.

Note that you can remove some items from the bulk editing box by clicking the X symbol. In addition, when bulk editing the webpages, you can also adding and assigning the parent page.

In fact, the Custom Bulk Edit plugin works in the same way as WordPress default bulk editing feature. However, this plugin allows the further features to meet your needs. For instance, you can bulk edit the titles of your posts and pages, along with the post excerpts. Also, you can delete the post excerpts during the bulk editing process.

In fact, when editing your posts and pages, you can select the categories and add the tags in a bulk manner. However, if you want to remove them in one time, you should click the Categories button and the Tags button from the Posts tab of your WordPress admin. Here, you just need to enable the bulk action of Delete after choosing all your wanted items.

To bulk edit your WordPress comments, you should access the Comments section. Here, the bulk actions only allow you to approve, unapprove and delete all the comments in one time. Or, you can mark all of them as the spam.

Unfortunately, there is no way to bulk edit the comment contents, such as entering some keywords or removing some spam words.

Also, you can edit your WordPress images in a bulk way. Frankly speaking, as the image component is important for any website, even the small blog site can have a large number of images. In this case, to edit them in one time, the bulk way is more practical.

Here, if you change your template that requires the different size of featured images, you should regenerate all your thumbnails in bulk. For this, you can use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin. Upon the installation, you simply need to click the Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails button to start the process.

Or, you can enter the Media page to use the Bulk Action button to regenerate all your thumbnails or to delete all the images in one time.

In addition, you can choose to use the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin to bulk optimize all your images. Here, you just need to click the Media > Bulk Optimize button, and then, start the optimization scanning after ticking the checkbox of Force Re-Optimization.

Even, you can bulk edit the size of your images using this plugin. To achieve this, you simply need to enter the settings page. From the Basic Settings part, you can compress or losslessly compress your JPG, PNG and GIF images. From the Resize Settings part, you can resize all your images with the exact width and height in pixels.
